Perfume search part 1 | Fragrance families
Fragrance families

To make the search for your perfect perfume easier, we have divided our perfume into fragrance families. A fragrance family is a group in which you will find fragrances with similar characteristics. This can be in terms of fragrance notes or structure.

We classify perfumes into the following "families."

WOMEN

100-299: Floral

This fragrance family contains perfumes in which flowers clearly dominate the scent.

300-499: Chypre/Fruity/Aquatic/ Citrus

Chypre, Fruity, Aquatic and Chypre are separate fragrance groups blended into 1 numerical range. Chypre fragrances are warm and dry. They are often constructed with fragrance notes such as bergamot, oakmoss and patchouli. Their base is often woody/mossy. Fragrances that fall into the fruity category are overtly fruity. Aquatic implies that it contains distinctly watery notes.

Within the citrus fragrance family, you will find many fragrances with lemon, bergamot and grapefruit, for example.

500-699: Oriental

Within the oriental fragrance family you will find many warm scents. Common fragrance notes used in this group are therefore various spices, vanilla, amber and patchouli.

700-999: Floral woody musk

This fragrance family has fragrances that are composed with flowers, wood and musk. Also found in here are fragrances that are only woody.

MEN:

100-299: Woody

The name of this fragrance family says it all. This fragrance family contains perfume with distinct wood notes in it.

300-499: Aromatic/Citrus/Chypre/Aquatic

Aromatic perfumes contain many green herbs, think rosemary and thyme. However, the group also includes many lavender and citrus-like scents. They are fresh and warm at the same time. Citrus perfumes contain many citrus like grapefruit, orange and lemon. Chypre fragrances are warm and dry. They are often constructed with fragrance notes such as bergamot, oakmoss and patchouli. Its base is often woody/mossy. Aquatic means that it contains distinct watery notes.

500-699: Oriental

As with women's perfume, you will find many warm scents in the oriental fragrance family. Therefore, common fragrance notes used in this group are various spices, vanilla, amber and patchouli.

700-999: Leathery

This fragrance family speaks for itself. In it are perfumes with a distinct leather scent.

This is the first step in finding your perfect perfume. The next step involves looking at the fragrance variations, main accords and most clearly discernible scent notes.

Next week we will continue the search for your perfect perfume.
